Getting Up and Starting Anew

I always admired those who could just get get up, get out of their current life, and just restart somewhere else.

The thing is, it’s people like me make this seem like such a “tough” and awesome thing to do. People like me who sit around and “admire” others like it’s some sort of amazing feat that no one can accomplish but the hardy and courageous.

If we all just realized how easy it is to do what we want, whenever we want, life wouldn’t be so hard.

Think about it. Think about your parents or siblings or friends or work colleagues who probably don’t like their lives very much. Common signs include complaining about their job, spending time away from their place of living, and constantly worrying about finances. A good amount of people honestly fall into this category, and they do these things because they feel trapped.

What’s the solution then, you ask? Well, pack up and move out. Grab some cheap moving boxes, toss your things in those cheap moving boxes, and go. Just get out and go.

Obviously, this is much easier said than done. Some people have families that they cannot afford to move. But they could do it if they plan ahead. Save up some money, do some job searching in the new area, and just make the move.

I’m not talking about huge changes in your life necessarily. If your job is in the city and you have to drive 20 minutes from the west side, move 20 minutes to the east side of the city. You don’t have to get a new job. You don’t have to drive further. But you do have a new place to live and a new perspective.

Because all it takes sometimes to flip your life around is a change in scenery and perspective. Even if you move to the other side of town, you’ve just now created yourself a new life. Do what you will with it and seize the day.

So yes, this is all easier said than done. And yes, only a few people will ever do this every year, simply because we feel we all have too much tying us down. But the nomads out there that bounce around are often the happiest, and it all starts to make so much sense if you begin to realize how they view life. They view it as an opportunity, not as baggage.
